Plans & Reports
This section tells you about our plans. We intend to keep you up to date about what is happening. This section will give you more information about our work and how we intend to develop this.
We came to the end of our Service Level Agreement with Health and Social Care Department (the new name for the Community Care Social Work Department in Edinburgh) in March 2005. A Service Level Agreement states what we will provide and at what cost. In early 2008 the Department re-entered into negotiation with us. There has been no inflationary award given in all of this time. There is agreement, however, to pay for our Day and Care Home services. The price of meeting the costs of these services has however become more and more difficult to sustain.
Additionally, Supporting People money which is given to us under a contract with the Edinburgh Supporting People Team and allows us to support tenants live in their own Tenancies has been cut from April 2008.
So once more this year will continue to be a crucial one for Garvald Edinburgh. The Lothian Learning Disability Strategic Review (http://www.lothianlearningdisabilityreview.info/ ) is due to report some time in May. This will help decide what services are needed in the future; who will provide them and how much money there is to pay for them.
We are therefore still awaiting news about our income position. Our plans must include how, despite this, we are going to continue to provide a quality service. This will have to be in different ways to the ways we do it now. We have looked at our structure and the way we do things.
We will also be looking at different ways, including fundraising, to continue to raise money for the refurbishment and running of Orwell Arts and the other services that we provide.
In making these plans we are sharing our ideas with our funders and those involved with writing the Lothian Learning Disability Strategic Review. As we get most of our income from the City of Edinburgh Council, and their Budgets are also being restricted, we must work closely in partnership with them.
Once we know exactly what the consequences of these financial decisions mean we will produce our own new Business Plan for the next five years.
