In our Day Service at Mayfield House, Mayfield/Midlothian we have the following vacancy:

Garden Group Workshop Leader
Salary scale £19,533 – £22,542 p.a.

The purpose of this job is to run a garden group, to help service users achieve positive outcomes and to facilitate a stable and inclusive working environment. The post holder will support service users to develop their abilities and interests while they are gaining work and life skills; to develop emotionally and socially; to gain self-confidence; and to strive for greater independence.
You should have experience of working and/or living with people with a learning disability as well as a passion for horticulture, the outdoors and nature based work. An interest and experience in developing nature and wood craft activities is essential.
This post requires a high level of creativity and there is scope to develop ideas and new areas of work within the abilities of our service users. At present, woodwork and sculpture have been part of the group’s work and in future other artistic elements could be developed according to the successful applicant’s skills.
