A strong part of the ethos of Garvald Edinburgh is the recognition of the value of community. It is characteristic of our values that the strength of community exists through the active presence and contribution of all its members. We actively encourage user involvement, focussing on the outcomes they want to achieve.
People coming to Garvald have a forum that they use to feed in their views, offer response to proposals and seek change. We encourage feedback and have a clear complaints procedure.
Garvald Edinburgh has embraced the Talking Points methodology and has been pioneering in developing tools to facilitate user engagement We also use communication systems such as Talking Mats as well as support from a dedicated involvement worker.
“Garvald Edinburgh members were involved at various levels in staff recruitment, from meeting applicants, to suggesting interview questions, to taking part in the formal interview panel. They received training and support to take part.”
