A (Fun!) Visit from Police Scotland
Earlier this month, member Nicole Tait welcomed her brother Liam for a tour of Orwell Arts. Liam, who is a police officer in the Lanarkshire division, arrived by police car, with plenty of spare uniforms for Orwell members to try on!
Nicole writes, “My brother Liam came to visit Orwell with his police friend Andy.
They came here to meet me and all the other members. It makes me happy to show him where I work because I visited his Police Station where he works.
My painting called the ‘Jumping Policeman’ is on the wall in his Lanark Police Station.
The visit started in the Art Studio, and we showed them our artwork.
I told them about the ideas I have and the names I make up for my pictures, like ‘Stiffler Milking a Cow’, ‘Michael Jackson Shopping at the Coop for Ribena’ and ‘Adam Driver Dances the Macarena’ and cutting and sticking collages in my sketch books.
He took off his police belt and showed us all the things on it.
We went to the weaving workshop, pottery, glass, the kitchen and media. Everyone was interested in talking and asking questions.
We had photos taken in the police car wearing police hats and high viz vest.”
