Garvald Artists : Shelter, the Outside In National Open Exhibition

Nicole Tait, with her work at Christies - Shelter from the Sun Beach Umbrellas

The year for the Garvald Artists has started with some celebratory exhibition energy. Nicole Tait went down to London to see her work exhibited as part of a large exhibition at Christie’s. The exhibition was organised by the organisation ‘ Outside In’ and featured 81 different artists, working across many mediums on the theme of ‘Shelter’. Nicole also spotted her friends work there too.

Kwok Kin Chan
Jordan Aitchison
Grant Abrahams
Lizz Macfarlane
And Nicole Tait are all exhibiting artists.

Work by Jordan Aitchison - My Neighbours Faces

The theme of ‘Shelter’ throws up ideas such as safety and security, care and community. The exhibition looked really interesting and vibrant, representing artists from a large range of backgrounds. The Outside In National Open exhibitions are held every 2 years and receive hundreds of applicants, with the winner offered a solo show. A previous exhibitor in 2019 Nnena Kalu was the winner of the Turner Prize 2025.
