Orwell celebrates Michaelmas

At the end of September, members of Orwell Arts gathered in the dining hall to celebrate the arrival of autumn and the festival of Michaelmas.

The celebration began with a beautiful performance by the music group, who sang a song about Saint Michael. Dhaoud from the Media Team then entertained everyone with a quiz.

Next, members of the glass workshop presented a creative retelling of the traditional Michaelmas story with a twist. After Saint Michael defeated the dragon, a curious archaeologist from Orwellia searched the battlefield and discovered a dragon egg. The egg began to hatch, and from it emerged a gentle baby dragon. Instead of breathing fire, it released warm puffs of air that filled people with courage. The people named the dragon Puff, and it became a symbol of hope and kindness in the kingdom.

To end the celebration on a joyful note, the music group led everyone in singing Puff the Magic Dragon. A perfect way to close a lovely afternoon.
