Forming Space sparkles at Summerhall

It’s been a wonderful opening weekend for us over at Summerhall Arts. Our new exhibition, Forming Space, is our fifth time showing work at Summerhall, and we’re so glad to be back!

Working across four buildings in Edinburgh, we don’t always get to see that much of each other, or the exciting projects we’re working on. Our exhibitions, alongside our open days, are a time of year that we can reunite, share our work and celebrate all that we do.

In Forming Space, Garvald artists and makers explored the theme of Vessels. Their original responses ranged from handcrafted bird boxes (housing hidden ceramic birds!), and floating glass bowls, to colourful textiles suspended in air and otherworldly levitating photography.

Jack Buchan, a member from the Media team (who chose the title for this post) shared:

“The chiming of the glass bowls, the bright colours, the exciting atmosphere, it all created a glittery experience. It can only be described as sparkling!”

Daniel Houliston, another Media workshop member, shared:

“I took my housemates. I was happy to show them my work. I liked seeing other people’s work, especially Lorraine’s knitting hanging from the roof.”

The exhibition will run until Wednesday 7th October and entry is free. Come along to experience this wonderful collection of work for yourself, and perhaps take something home! Many of the items on display are for sale, and proceeds go back into our workshops.
