Seasons Greetings from Orwell Arts

Musical performance at the Garvald Orwell Arts open day!

Last Saturday, Orwell Arts had its open day. All the workshops were open for visitors and people had the chance to try out what its like in each workshop. The Kitchen had a delicious selection of cakes and hosted a bustling cafe.

There were christmas carols, hosted by Richard , performing Jingle Bells and other favourites!

“It was a good atmosphere, it was busy.”

In Pottery, there were two craft activities, painted decorations, and making mosaic pot stands and coasters. The Weaving had set up bookmarks to weave and felted decorations to bead. There was Zine making in Media, and mosaic Christmas ornaments to be made in Glass. The artists hosted talks up in Painting which were a huge success, they had a massive audience and a full workshop with five artists participating.

It was a great event to ‘celebrate Christmas and also all the work we’ve done this year’. ‘It was a great event for socialising’ said Amy. ‘The best part of the whole day was the sausage rolls!’ said Daniel.

We had a really great time in Media making and sharing our two films, directed by Kirsten Bailey, ‘The Bear went over the Mountain’ and ‘ Life on horseback’. We also showed our short films made on the theme of ‘Morning’.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and thank everyone for coming to our open day and supporting Garvald this year!
