Midsummer Celebrations at Orwell Arts
Last week at Orwell Arts, we celebrated St. John's Day, also known as Midsummer. This ancient festival has long been marked by lighting bonfires and jumping over the flames as a symbolic way to burn away worries and weaknesses.
At Orwell, we didn't do any jumping, but we celebrated in our own way by gathering together, singing songs, and reading poems. We lit a bonfire and each sent our woes and wishes into the flames.
The weather was gloriously hot, making it a perfect afternoon to come together and celebrate this beautiful tradition.
