Waterside Workshops Summer Festival
What an exciting June we've been having! Aside from launching our new exhibition at the Garvald Makers shop and hosting a spectacular bread-tasting event courtesy of the Garvald Bakers, we've also been busy welcoming people to our latest open day.
Waterside Workshops opened its doors to the public to celebrate the arrival of Summer and all the wonderful work Waterside members have been busy with.
The Canteen kept visitors happy with the zestiest lemon drizzle cake and gooiest tiffin in town, not to mention the scones and hearty soups people have come to expect on a Garvald visit.
The Land group showed off their beautifully tended garden, as well as their handmade games. Crowds gathered round a snail racing game featuring ceramic snail pieces and a hand-sewn racing track, while others marvelled at a Garvald themed monopoly game called G'Nopoly!
The Puppetry also debuted their brand new show, based on the Chinese Zodiac, which featured beautiful handmade puppets and original music. Stay tuned for pictures from this performance!
Paul, who works in the Canteen, says:
“I was doing the drying up in the kitchen. There was a lot to do, lots of people had lunch in the canteen. We served lentil soup, and a tomato basil soup, scones and cakes. It was busy, but it was good.”
Thank you to everyone who came out, and thank you to Waterside Workshops for putting on such a great open day event. Thanks to Cissie and Jack (pictured last) from the Media Workshop for taking photos.
